Montefiore Cancer Patients Benefit from More Accurately-Targeted Cancer Treatments with LinaTech's Portal Imaging and IGRT System

Jan 14, 2012

Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, is now offering more targeted radiotherapy treatments to cancer patients with the installation of LinaTech's Portal Imaging and IGRT System. The new device allows physicians to adjust the patient's position during treatment, ensuring that the tumor is more accurately targeted.

The IGRT and Portal Imaging (IVS - Image Viewing System) provides affordable, leading-edge technology to unlock the financial value of an existing linear accelerator. The system utilizes a state-of-the-art digital X-ray flat panel detector technology and is accurate and easy to use.

The IVS imports DICOM/RT patient treatment data sets from a Treatment Planning System (TPS), and patient imaging data is stored and retrieved from the DICOM server. The system allows for 2D registration using only one portal image and 3D registration using two 2D portal images, displaying the digital reconstructed radiograph (DRR), portal images, and overlay image in the same display window. The TiGRT IVS also displays the couch shift, and one image takes only one second to acquire, minimizing the time a patient spends on the treatment table.

The IVS Technology was created to treat cancer more accurately while reducing treatment time for patients. As a global leader in the fight against cancer, LinaTech understands the importance of new technologies in the fight against cancer and will continue to lead the way.

By offering more targeted radiotherapy treatments, Montefiore Medical Center is providing cancer patients with cutting-edge care. With LinaTech's Portal Imaging and IGRT System, physicians can deliver more precise treatments, improving outcomes for cancer patients in the Bronx and beyond.
